A list of frequently asked, occasionally asked and never-asked-but-you-might-like-to-know-the answer-anyway questions.

Who are you?

My name is  Karen Banes.  I’m the founder, webmaster and owner of Change The World With Words. See the about page for more detail (but don’t expect too much. I don’t like to talk about myself).

Is this a for-profit site?

This site is ‘gently monetized’, and no, that’s not an official blogging term. As far as I know I just made it up.  There are a  few advertisements. Some of them are Google ads. I am unable to vet these advertisers. Please use the same discretion you would with any advertisement anywhere before using advertised services.

There are some links to ebooks and info products that I think writers might find useful. You’ll also find direct links to Amazon so you can, if you choose, buy any books I mention or review. I just added an Amazon aStore to the site. It’s full of books on writing, publishing and world-changing. You can access it here.  I hope you’ll have a browse and find something you like in there.

If you buy anything via a link on my site I may receive a commission on that sale from the seller. (It won’t cost you any more than it ordinarily would.) Readers buying books or other products through this site helps offset the cost of running it. I thank you in advance if you decide to be one of them :)

Can I follow you on Twitter?

You certainly can – @writeandchange

Do you have a facebook fan page?

Not yet.

Why is your location on Twitter Planet Earth?

My location changes. I was born and raised in England. I’ve lived and worked in Spain, the Netherlands, Australia the USA and Canada. In spite of having many of the outward appearances of stability (a husband, 2 kids) I still move around a lot. Close friends know to write my address in pencil. My kids have British passports, Spanish birth certificates, Canadian residency, a wonderfully rich knowledge of the world,  and somewhat confused identities. I’m grateful that technology allows me to write and run this site from anywhere in the world. The ‘location’ space on Twitter is really small.

Can I link to this site from my blog or online articles?

Please do. Link to any post that’s relevant to what you’re writing about. You can also quote from any of my posts as long as you keep it short and link directly to the post you’re quoting. If you think your readers will be interested in what I have to say, please consider adding me to your blogroll, links, or resource page.

Will you link to my blog, or article?

I might, if Iove it and think my readers will too.

How do I contact you, and why would I want to?

If there’s something you’d like to see me cover, maybe some aspect of writing (or world changing) you’d like to read about, I’d love to hear from you. Just let me know in the comments section (I read all comments and respond to questions or suggestions) or email me.

If you’re interested in hiring me for a writing project or collaborating with me, I’d also love to hear from you. Let me know your ideas by email.

If you’re a fellow blogger and would like to guest post here at Change the World With Words, let me know and we’ll work something out. (I’m always super nice to potential guest posters.)
