The short answer is that running a successful blog or website takes less time the better you get at it (like a lot of things in life!). Initially there's a steep learning curve, especially if you're not technically talented (I'm not!). As you get more experienced you have more fun with it and less tech related stress. There are many sites full of information tightly focussed on blogging. Try AlistBloggingBootcamps.com (they run a paid program but there is lots of free info at the site) Problogger.com, Copyblogger.com, BecomeABlogger.com.
